A Taste of the Future

Written by Man Points

Science fiction has given a lot of hints at what the future might bring, but not much of it has actually come to fruition yet. Well, rather than giving us items to look forward to in the next few months, Mac Funamizu has given us just a couple more hints that not only will the future be bright, but it's going to be awesome!

First off is an MP3 player with a translucent screen which can be worn on your wrist like a watch.

3D - Just Another Illusion?

Written by Man Points

3D technology has been around since 1922 - who doesn't remember the red and green glasses, and the ever present chance of a bout of nausea; but it was not until the recent introduction of digital spectroscopic technology that 3D reached it's second golden age.

Racing with the Pros

Written by Man Points

For fans of motor racing there is little that will beat relaxing in front of the television with a beer in hand on a lazy sunday afternoon waiting for the race to start, or picking out your seats next to the track while the cars warm up.... Unless you could actually be taking part in the race.

Well, unfortunately we can't give that to you - odds are, you just aren't good enough, but the next best thing is in the pipeline however is Real Time Racing.  The company "Real Time Race" has developed technology that will allow you take part in real races, in real time, via your games console.

This is how the company says it works:

"Real Time Race captures the track environment a few hours prior to the race – along with the racing cars. The cars are fitted with state of the art navigation systems and during the race transmit their ‘real world’ position to a collection point near the circuit.

These ‘positions’ are transmitted through the Internet to your browser where the software renders the cars into the simulation in the correct positions, whilst a proprietary algorithm facilitates the interaction between the real cars and the user’s car.
